As a 27-year-old, Michael Burrows became a partner in the leading criminal law firm in the Northern Territory, Maley & Burrows. He quickly became the Principal Partner and Director of the firm after his partner, Peter Maley, was appointed to the judiciary. Now 29, Michael holds an integrated management and mentoring role for the firm’s younger lawyers and staff in a practice covering all criminal defence advocacy. He oversees five full time solicitors, a property conveyancer, office manager and five administrative staff. His management style is designed to bring out the best in the staff, with a careful balance between mentorship, friendship and discipline. He studied at Bond University, he has been Vice President of the Northern Territory Young Lawyers Association and a committee member of the Criminal Lawyers Association of the Northern Territory.
